FAILURE as PRACTICE

Failure as Process Workshop/Belgrade City Museum/2017

The project titled "Failure as Practice" began as a series of workshops led by Darko Dragičević in collaboration with City Guerilla. It was realized in May 2017 in the Museum of the City of Belgrade, with the support of the Goethe-Institut.

Through workshops, the participants reflected on the general understanding of failure under various social circumstances. In addition, they questioned the normative ethics of social behavior, including language, movement, interpersonal interaction, and collective memory. They have succeeded in exploring knowledge production in relation to their own selves and to other bodies in public space through a series of analytical and practical tasks. In their performances and installations, the participants were finally able to present different solutions, in the form of texts, various materials of linguistic nature, sounds and movements, sometimes even with the participation of the audience.

The results of the workshop series were presented to the public as a framework program for the exhibition "Actopolis - The Art of Action" at the City Museum Belgrade.

In 2018, 4 more phases of "Failure as Practice" are planned, with the aim of exploring the topic of failure in more detail.

In addition, the participants will present the results of their work as a publication to the public. In addition to contributions by city guerrilla members, numerous text contributions by international experts are planned for the catalog. From a theoretical and practical perspective, you will explore different aspects of failure and its transformative power - from a socio-political, philosophical and anthropological point of view.

The book presentation is planned for early 2019. The presentation itself should be understood as a kind of Lab Space, with multidisciplinary content that should encourage further and deeper exchanges on the main theme of "Failure as Practice".
